FrankenCat was brought to life in the Distortions Unlimited basement on a cold Winters eve. The story began weeks before when Tom Cassidy, after many hours sculpting, began to see the clay move. These hallucinations lead him to an "ah-ha moment," however misguided it may have been, where he imagined what it would be like to make an animated creature. Being an avid animal lover and owner of cherished pets he wondered what it would be like if he could combine the best qualities of his two beloved cats, Newt and Buffalo. They are funny cats with sweet personalities. In his free time, between sculpting and painting, he began to dabble in genetics. He gathered small fur and saliva samples from his two cats, and used it to extract their DNA, which he used to grow cat parts in a dark corner of the sculpting room. At this point he also enlisted the Distortions crew, drawing upon various departments expertise in electricity, mechanics, sewing, and design, to help him with his creation. Mike added bolts to the neck for strength, Roxie helped with sewing, and Ed worked on a machine, full of dials and lights, to shock the creature to life. Many of the crew participated, although Marsha and some of the team suggested caution and even advised stopping the experiment. A significant twist happened when a mysterious "lizard" foot was grown and sewn on to the creature. Some of the samples appear to have been contaminated with lizard or perhaps even "Distortions monster DNA." This seems the only explanation for FrankenCat's cantankerous personality as well and the odd reptilian foot.
After much work, FrankenCat was animated in blur of flashing light. A delighted Tom rushed to see his creation but was taken aback when he was hissed at! Ed tried to scoop up the perturbed creature only to find himself bitten on the hand and rushed to the hospital for a shot. Luckily, Janene was able to calm FrankenCat down by offering it 3 cans of wet food. An unsteady calm returned to Distortions. FrankCat has now found a home here and is well cared for, although the crew still has to use extreme caution when the creature has not eaten. Tom and the rest of the crew have regained their senses and have vowed to stick to making only LATEX creatures. Toms two cats Newt and Buffalo are doing well and surprisingly get along quite well with FrankenCat, which shares their DNA, but not their sweet personalities.
